Faculty members in the Department of Communication are dedicated teachers and highly skilled professionals. In fact, nine of our faculty members have received university-wide awards for teaching. Communication programs at Missouri State University provide students with a firm foundation in a range of human communication activity. Possible courses include public speaking, listening, nonverbal communication, interpersonal communication, intercultural communication, organizational communication, group communication, family communication, public relations, persuasion, rhetoric and debate.
We offer majors/options in communication studies, organizational communication, health communication, intercultural communication, rhetoric, interpersonal communication, public relations, socio-political communication, and speech and theatre education. To be admitted to a communication degree program, students must complete their first two years with an overall GPA of 2.50 or higher and with at least a 2.50 in a core of fundamental courses. The department also offers a minor in communication that can complement practically any other major field.
