AWC is an organization that promotes the advancement of women across all communication disciplines. Disciplines represented within the association include: print and broadcast journalism, television and radio production, film, advertising, public relations, marketing, graphic design, multi-media design, and photography. The faculty advisor for AWC is Valerie Turner.
Both IABC and AWC are student chapters associated with national professional organizations have relationships with local and regional professional chapters.
IABC is open to all students and is of special interest to students pursuing careers in public relations, advertising, media relations, management, human resources, and other business-related communication professions. The faculty advisor for IABC is Dr. Sam Dyer.
Lambda Pi Eta is the national Communication honor society and is affiliated with the National Communication Association. Each semester students who meet the academic standards required for membership and are recommended by faculty are invited to join this prestigious group. In addition to recognizing and promoting academic excellence in Communication, Lambda Pi Eta members engage in projects designed to serve the department and the discipline. The faculty advisor for Lambda Pi Eta is Dr. Janis King.
PRSSA is a student organization open to all students and has an emphasis on cultivating a favorable and mutually advantageous relationship between students and professional public relations practitioners. The PRSSA faculty advisor is Dr. Susan Waters.
