Research and professional interests

My research and professional interests are varied and diverse. Communication education and communication in education are enduring topics of study. Working with many first year students in the basic course has sparked many potential research questions for future exploration. I have also studied intercultural communication between and among this country’s indigenous populations and Anglo society and how indigenous cultures are depicted in mainstream, Anglo-controlled media. Professionally, I have extensive experience in political communication as a speechwriter and communication consultant for campaigns at local and state levels. Public relations experience includes social marketing and nonprofit communication strategies for several organizations and grant-funded projects.
